Rhapsody Series Book Review

Rhapsody Series, by Elizabeth Hayden

This series of books is about a half human, half-Lirin woman named Rhapsody who goes on en epic journey with her two new friends, Achmed and Grunthor. They travel along a magical tree root and come up on the other side of the world to find that their home island, Serendair, was destroyed by an asteroid that had fallen centuries earlier and suddenly rose from the sea to consume the island. Achmed becomes King of a race of primitive people known as the Bolg, and they soon get on the nerves of all the humans in the new world. They go on lots of adventures, fight enemies that they had on the old island, and encounter new enemies.

I found that the entire series was rather wordy with whole walls of text on information and subjects that I didn't really want to know. I found myself skipping pages so I woudln't get a headache. Rhapsody was spasmadic and had a somewhat disturbing love for children and adopting them. However, the plot was interesting--moslty-- and I just wanted to know what happened so I kept reading the books.

"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire

This is a whole new take on "The Wizard of Oz". It is from the point of view of the Wicked Witch, who isn't actually wicked. She is working for Animal rights. Animals are different from animals because Animals have soles. The Wizard is actually the wicked one. He has revoked Animal rights.
The story starts not long before Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) was born and continues on through the events in her life. She goes to school in Shiz and is room mates with Galinda (The Good Witch of the North). They aren't enemies, infact they become "sisters" and try to make things right in OZ.
It took awhile to read this book, mostly because it just didn't captivate me.
Three stars ***

Review of Plum Spooky by, Janet Evanovich

Another hit from Janet Evanovich!Stephanie is in prime form explosions, wrecked cars and a new twist MONKEYS.We of course get a good dose of Deisel but for me not enough Grandma. This was a laugh outloud romp through the Berg and a new location the Barrens with a visit from the Easter Bunny,Sasquatch and my favorite Elmer who farts fire. How she comes up with these stories is beyond me but I hope she never stops!Lulu is of course front and center and we move along with her and Tank's storyline *No Spoiler*you'll have to read to see what happens!I loved this book as I do all Janet's books. And just my opinion but Hey USA Network if your looking for characters you'll never find more in one place than the Berg!

Review YA Book "The City Of Ember' by, Jeanne DuPrau

I just finished "The City of Ember' by, Jeanne DuPrau, it was a great book that I couldn't put down! This is about a city built by "the builders" a river runs all the lights and their storerooms are supposed to last forever, well needless to say forever is here, the generator that works their electricity is breaking down the storerooms are almost empty and all the pipeworks are leaking. The adult citizens seem to be unaware of the changes going on their city and a bad Mayor is not helping his citizens at all.Of course it is the young people that realize things are becoming bad there are blackouts lasting longer each time.So Lina & Doon decide to do some investigating on their own, after Lina finds an unusual box with even more unusual "instructions" to the Egress. So the two of them set out to find a way out of the city .This book was very well written and I whole-heartedly recommend it to young and old alike.
There is a movie of this book coming out next month I have watched a few trailers and have already seen some inconsistencies with the book.I will review the movie and give a comparison to the book when it comes out.
I give this book 5 Stars.
